Kempten
Organised by Georg and Diana Rudolf.
“Feel at home among old and new friends and enjoy with us a relaxed get-together in our beautiful Bavarian region “Allgäu”.
That was the opening sentence in the invitation by Georg and Diana Rudolf and how well did they live up to those words! Having graciously accepted the soul catching request to accommodate the 2013 fly-in at the highest altitude aerodrome in Germany, our host and hostess rose to the challenge in a major way! Some of us worried about grass fields, others about the implications of runway length and altitude limitations.
All of us speculated about the horrible weather conditions during most of spring, but at the opportune time a record 80 people from 10 different countries, including 14 from the USA, arrived in 20 more or less Grumman aeroplanes and other means of less appropriate transport.
Upon arrival planes were expertly shepherded into an almost straight flight line by a special and classic “Follow me” vehicle after which pilots and passengers were placed in the good hands of Sabine and Carsten Korf for registration purposes in a specially erected AYA tent.
